NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans man is facing three counts of child sexual abuse and two counts of kidnapping in connection with the abduction of an 18-year-old girl from her home.
The New Orleans Advocate reports that Anthony Pfeiffer, 36, has been booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Facility on a charge of kidnapping and one count of sexual battery.
Pfeffer’s arrest was reported Wednesday.
The Associated Press reported Pfeffer is being held without bail.
The Advocate reported Pteffers arrest was announced Tuesday by a judge who said it is being handled “at the request of the State of Louisiana.”
In a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office said the victim’s family was “grateful” for the “immediate and diligent efforts” made by the Louisiana State Police in locating Pfefter.
“The victim and her family are thankful for the immediate and diligent attempts made by law enforcement in locating Anthony P. Pounceer.
He has been apprehended,” the sheriff said.
The statement said Pfeiffs arrest is being investigated by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and the New Orleans Police Department.
“He is also a wanted fugitive and the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating this matter,” the statement added.
Pteiffers arrest comes less than a month after New Orleans police officers arrested a man who they say raped a 13-year old girl at her home in a case that sparked nationwide outrage.
Police arrested 19-year year old Jonathan Dufresne on Thursday in connection to the case.
Authorities said Dufre was a suspect in a similar abduction of a 13 year old girl in New Orleans in November.
Pheiffers bail hearing is scheduled for Jan. 19.
