New Delhi: In a country where people often think of the Indianapolis Mall as an Indianapolis, a new survey says it is the country’s safest city.
Indianapolis has a high rate of homicides, which have been in a steady decline since 2016, and high rates of robberies and other violent crimes.
The survey of nearly 500,000 people found that Indianapolis was safest among the US cities surveyed, which is about 70% of the total.
Fort Myers, Florida was second, followed by Las Vegas, Texas, Las Vegas Metropolitan, San Diego and Tampa, Florida.
Indianburg, Indiana, was ranked seventh, just below Indianapolis.
The data came out the same day as a US Senate hearing on the city of Indianapolis, where Mayor Greg Ballard has been charged with criminal contempt and obstructing governmental administration of government.
The Associated Press has not independently verified the data.
Ballard has denied the charges and said he would not resign.
